TRAIL TO MORROW

Bruce Saunders, the President of the Coalition, was in invited to attend a Memorable Morrow meeting to discuss the building of a trail to connect Morrow to Clarksville. Memorable Morrow is a committee of downtown business leaders working together to continue to develop downtown Morrow.

Bruce met with Memorable Morrow in April, 2021, about a planned 9-mile extension from Wilmington through Clarksville to Morrow. It's exciting to revisit this topic with our friends in Morrow! We'll continue to reconnect with them periodically. Stay tuned for more developments!

Legacy Fund Winner

The Trails Coalition has been awarded $80,500 for the paving of the Clinton Fayette Friendship Trail from Anderson Fork to Melvin Road. The job is currently being bid out.

ADVOCACY UPDATE

A HUGE thank you to everyone who took time to advocate for continued trail development.

The Ohio legislation to remove eminent domain from trail building was vetoed by Ohio Governor Dewine. Governor DeWine's veto of the eminent domain ban for recreational trails in Ohio was pivotal because it preserved a critical tool for building and expanding community bike and pedestrian pathways. Follow the link if you want to CONTACT Governor Dewine to thank him for his veto.

TRAIL WORK

The newly repaired Clinton Fayette Friendship Trail culvert.
  • The Clinton Fayette Friendship Trail sink hole that we reported last month has been repaired.
  • There are walkers and volunteers who routinely pick up trash along the Luther Warren Peace Path, our most traveled trail, and along the Friendship Trail in Sabina. We are so grateful to these volunteers!
  • Graffiti on the bridge on the Luther Warren Peace Path was removed by trail volunteers, but unfortunately, the same graffiti artist has returned. We are looking for other solutions to this continued problem. Thankfully, the content of the graffiti is not offensive.
  • The graffiti on the Friendship Trail bridge was offensive and Pat Harris promptly painted over it.We are so grateful to folks who use the trail when they make us aware of graffiti (and down trees and sink holes) immediately.
  • Please let us know via or FB Messenger when you notice trails that require maintenance.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

  • Along the Elizabeth J. Looney Trail from Nelson to Ogden, there are some signs with green algae. If anyone wants to help clean these up, feel free to do that on your own or message us and we can set up a time for a group of us to do that together.
